Trout Pond Forest, Lyme -- Thursday, June 30 at 7:00 a.m.

Twelve people met at the Lyme School parking lot and proceeded out to Lyme's Trout Pond Forest. Trout Pond has no development around its wooded shoreline and offers fine views of Smarts Mountain to the east. The group seemed to split naturally among those whose primary interest was the birds and those who also took time to make note of the areas abundant plant diversity. It is a short walk through a mix of early-successional and mature mixed forest brought to the pond's edge. Twenty-six species were recorded.
